General Job Description:

The Licensed Therapist provides professional therapeutic services, including individual, family, and group counseling, to clients experiencing mental health challenges. The therapist is responsible for assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, and working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care. The therapist will work within the clinic’s mission to promote emotional well-being and recovery in a compassionate and supportive environment.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct initial client assessments, including mental health evaluations, to determine the nature and severity of psychological issues.

2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs and goals.

3. Provide evidence-based therapy sessions to clients, including individual, family, and group sessions.

4. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and outcomes.

5. Collaborate with other healthcare providers (e.g., psychiatrists, social workers, case managers) to ensure coordinated care.

6. Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed to reflect changes in client status or goals.

7. Educate clients and their families on coping strategies, stress management techniques, and the benefits of therapy.

8. Stay updated on best practices in therapy and participate in ongoing professional development.

9. Comply with all ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements related to mental health therapy.

10. Participate in team meetings and contribute to case discussions for optimal client care.

Personal and Clinical Competencies:

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey treatment plans and progress clearly.

- Empathy, patience, and compassion when dealing with clients in crisis or distress.

- Knowledge of a variety of therapeutic modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT) and when to apply them.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt therapeutic approaches to meet the unique needs of each client.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all aspects of therapy.

Performance Standards and Measurements:

1. Completion of client assessments and treatment plans within specified timeframes.

2. Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date clinical records in compliance with clinic policies and regulatory standards.

3. Achievement of positive client outcomes as measured by self-report, therapist observation, and clinical metrics.

4. Active participation in team meetings and case discussions.

5. Consistent adherence to clinic policies, ethical guidelines, and licensing requirements.

6. Demonstration of professional growth and ongoing learning through continued education and training.

Job Demands:

- The job requires sitting for extended periods during therapy sessions.

- Ability to manage emotional and physical stress when working with clients in crisis or distress.

- Occasional weekend or evening hours may be required depending on client availability or clinic needs.

- Requires proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems for documentation and treatment planning.

Educational and Licensing Qualifications:

- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.

- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
