Program Recognition Spotlight: Choices Adolescent Program

Inside Choices AP

Choices is an early diversion program in Worcester County serving adolescents who are at risk of becoming involved in the judicial system. For almost five years, Choices has been meeting young people where they are and guiding them toward healing, care, and stability. Awarded the Early Diversion grant for Worcester County, the program has successfully redirected more than 90 adolescents away from the court system and into the appropriate levels of care needed to thrive.

The program provides consistent and coordinated care that includes counseling, medication management, Alternative Peer Group (APG) participation and support, and trusted contacts youth can reach anytime. Choices is not just a program, it is a partner for young people and their families, helping them navigate difficult systems while never losing sight of the individual behind the struggle.

As one parent shared: “We spent months trying to find help for our son and felt lost. An emergency provider suggested Choices, and the same day Billy [Beers – Board President] set up a Zoom call and then an appointment. When my son refused to leave the car, Billy went outside, knelt by the window, and talked with him for 45 minutes. That simple connection in a parking lot became the beginning of our journey with Choices. From that day forward, we had a copilot and a partner. A year later, our son has consistent care and has begun sharing his own story to help others. We are grateful for Choices and the progress our son has made.”

Choices’ Co Occurring Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs have been at capacity since opening. The progress and transitional assistance these levels of care have provided to clients is, without a doubt, what’s needed for their long-term success.

Their message is simple: we are here to meet you where you are, walk alongside you, and support your journey to health and wellness.
