Join us to learn about the new Toolkit for professionals, covering key concepts of youth and young adult substance use and how to help young people who may be struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. This toolkit consists of 2 volumes. In Volume 1 of the toolkit, we will focus on understanding youth and young adult substance use, signs and symptoms, screening and assessment, emerging trends in Massachusetts for young people, engaging in meaningful conversations to support youth and young adults around substance use, and how to access substance use treatment, supports, and family recovery resources. In Volume 2, we will highlight important information for professionals that include the impact of substance use on youth and young adult brain development, challenges and barriers to youth and young adult substance use treatment, best practices for referrals, trauma-informed care for youth and young adults in substance use treatment, and how to involve families and community stakeholders to support young people in recovery. Furthermore, the training offers resources to enhance knowledge of these subject areas and will also review IHR's Youth and Young Adult Training Team services, including in-person and virtual trainings, technical assistance, and online trainings.
