Methadone for Opioid Use Disorder

This course has been approved by EMO Health as a NAADAC-approved Education Provider for 1 education credit. 

Course Description: This training focuses on the pharmacology of methadone, and how its unique properties make it an effective treatment for Opioid Use Disorder. We will explore misconceptions and stigmas related to methadone maintenance therapy that lead to barriers to treatment and poor patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives: At the completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

1. Identify the role of methadone in opioid use disorder treatment

2. Explain how methadone's unique pharmacology impacts induction and maintenance dosing

3. List potential candidates for methadone treatment

4. Describe the limitations of a clinic-based delivery system and take-home dosing guidelines
