Training (skill building)

As access to gambling expands, many communities remain unaware of the potential harms, the populations disproportionately affected, and the value of an equity-grounded public health approach. This introductory training explores core problem gambling concepts and terminology, key risk and protective factors, populations at elevated risk, and connections to related health issues. Participants will be able to explain (or describe) how a public health framework can help protect and improve community well-being.

This Introductory training is in our Health Equity track of our Health Equity Academy. It also is approved to provide CPS, CAC, CADC, CADC II, and CHW CEU’s.

At the end of this training participants will be able to:

  • Identify key components of a public health approach to problem gambling prevention
  • Define gambling and describe the gambling continuum
  • Identify risk and protective factors for problem gambling
  • Identify groups disproportionately impacted by problem gambling

Anyone involved in problem gambling prevention or any other prevention or behavioral health field is more than welcome to attend. If you would like, feel free to share this flyer with your friends or colleagues who may be interested in attending.
