Application Information
Please read carefully before applying for the RC Supervisor Professional Practice Training
The Recovery Coach Supervisor Professional Practice Training and (required pre-requisite) completion of the 5-Day Recovery Coach Academy provides a solid foundation for supervisors who are working within the addictions system and who are presently supervising recovery coaches or will be supervising them in the near future. As the peer workforce grows, BSAS continues to provide quality training, practice and orientation sessions to behavioral health organizations seeking to provide or currently delivering Recovery Coaching Services.
The Bureau of Substance Addiction Services has been offering the Recovery Coach Supervisor Professional Practice Training since 2016. To date it has trained 394 supervisors in MA. It was originally designed with clinicians in mind and with sensitivity to the work schedules required of this workforce. Therefore it is delivered as a three day training:
Days 1 and 2 are delivered back to back.
Between Day 2 and Day 3, supervisors have a month of organizational homework with a detailed workbook, a requirement to observe 2 recovery coaches and 1 hour of coaching provided.
Day 3 will bring all participants back together to review the results of the month's observations and assessments, share lessons learned and create a network for continuing learning collaborative.
This is then followed up by 2 webinars over the next 1.5 months, titled Keeping Fidelity to the Peer Model & Advocacy.
The supervisor training requires that all participants take the 5 day Recovery Coach Academy (RCA). It will be a pre-requisite to acceptance into the RC supervisor training starting Wednesday, January 1, 2020. We recognize that this may be a challenge for some. Based on the past 4 years of experience and feedback from recovery coaches and recovery coach supervisors, this is the best solution to ensure quality and fidelity to the peer model.
You can view and register for the next RCA through https://careersofsubstance.org/resources/training-search/bsas-recovery-…;
Thanks so much.
