We are delighted to invite you to the launch of Growing a New Heart’s Learning Collaborative on the intersection of substance use and intimate partner violence, white supremacy, and other forms of dominance.

Background:

Our overall project has been working on providing sexual and domestic violence advocates and BSAS providers with immediate referral connections and relevant, timely skills and strategies while cultivating a shared lens as we work towards piloting integrated service models.

This project aims to strengthen the systems and resources available toward the goal of better serving survivors of sexual and domestic violence who are using substances and people who use the tools of abuse in intimate partnerships who are also using substances.

The Learning Collaborative is a key component in this effort.

Purpose:

During this time, we will examine and implement best practices for screening for and responding to the complexities of SDV (Sexual and Domestic Violence) in the context of recovery. Participants will choose a scope of practice to address policy changes and supervision strategies in a guided and supportive environment. Technical Assistance will be provided by a team with expertise in LGBTQ+ relationships, intimate partner violence in BIPOC communities, and person-centered recovery.

Who should attend?

This is for supervisors and others who have influence towards policy and practice changes. If you have had to manage difficult challenges regarding the safety of your staff from abusive partners who threaten people in recovery programming, sorting out complex dynamics that seem like ‘mutual abuse,’ working with survivors of sexual coercion and other related issues, we are here to help.

If you are interested, please email learningcollab@growinganewheart.org, and we will email you instructions and ask some questions that will help us tailor the learning environment to your needs.
