Description: This training is designed for those in the field of substance addiction prevention, treatment and recovery who have already completed basic diversity, equity and inclusion training. This training will provide tools for putting awareness into action. Participants will examine policies and practices that are barriers to and amplifiers of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI)in employment and within the culture and structures of organizations. Activities and exercises address:

DEI mission statements

  • Recruitment and hiring practices and policies to amplify DEI
  • Salaries, job titles and structural practices embedded with bias
  • HR policy barriers and amplifiers of DEI
  • Workplace culture: cultural humility and practices of micro and macro-inclusion
  • Supervisory practices that can make or break diversity
  • Barriers and amplifiers of DEI in leadership and governance
  • Utilizing a DEI Impact Assessment Tool for planning and decision-making

Upon completion of DEI Level 3, participants will have the tools to:

  • Recognize why and how to apply a DEI mission statement to each project/endeavor
  • Recognize policies and practices that create barriers to DEI
  • Create policies & practices that amplify DEI in the workplace
  • Create workplace norms that operationalize cultural humility
  • Participants will learn to use a DEI Impact Assessment Tool for developing policies and programs
