Event description
Sponsored by BSAS
Yes

Training Description: This training is for clinicians, staff, and anyone working with Youth and Young Adults who are looking to integrate embodied interventions into their sessions with confidence.

Storytelling and Theatre don’t have to be scary! In fact, they can encourage connection, foster self-disclosure and discovery, deepen engagement, and enliven the group process. This work is especially effective for those who struggle with verbal processing.

During this training, we will walk through and process a sample group session together. Participants will walk away with a deeper understanding of the use of embodied story work as well as several exercises that can be immediately implemented in their practice. This workshop will require participants to actively engage, turn cameras on, and/or verbally share.

Objectives: Participants will be able to...

  • Describe the use and value of Theatre & Storytelling in clinical work with Youth and Young Adults
  • Recognize the clinical benefit of embodied practices for Youth and Young Adults
  • Identify connections and reduce barriers between Theatre & Storytelling and their clinical practice
  • Integrate several Theatre & Storytelling practices to build rapport, encourage disclosure, and increase self-awareness in the group process
  • Design a group session that utilizes Theatre & Storytelling exercises to create a scaffold leading into deeper clinical work
