This training focuses on ways to engage and support family members caring for youth and young adults with substance use disorders. Topics covered include: understanding parental challenges, reframing addiction as a chronic family disease, and identifying family recovery resources at the local, state, and national levels. The workshop also explores ways to engage and support families where there is multi-generational substance use issues, and where parents/caregivers themselves have not yet committed to recovery, as well as an exploration of ways to work with parents/caregivers who are in active recovery.
