DESCRIPTION:

The Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A-CRA) is a developmentally appropriate treatment model for youth and young adults (12-24 years old) with substance misuse or substance use disorders.

This A-CRA Exposure training is intended for senior leaders, outpatient clinic directors, independently licensed supervisors, and masters level clinicians interested in learning both about the A-CRA model and how agencies can become a Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS), Office of Youth and Young Adult Services (OYYAS) recognized A-CRA provider.

A-CRA is an evidence based manualized model developed by Chestnut Health Systems. The brief treatment model can be delivered in outpatient clinics, community settings, homes, or school based settings and typically involves individual weekly sessions which can include parent(s) or caregivers.  Clinicians and supervisors are trained and certified to deliver the A-CRA model.

The A-CRA Exposure training will provide an overview of the A-CRA model, research and philosophy, and explain the context for state funded implementation.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Understand the philosophy and procedures of the A-CRA treatment model;
  • Observe a demonstration of the Functional Analysis of Substance Using Behavior procedure;
  • Describe the A-CRA training and certification requirements; and
  • Understand the process and protocol for becoming a BSAS recognized A-CRA provider.
